La Grande Dame Rosé by Paola Paronetto 2015
The Champagne La Grande Dame Rosé by Veuve Clicquot embodies the highest tribute to Madame Clicquot, an emblematic and inspiring woman to whom this Rosé cuvée has been dedicated since its creation in 1962. A solar expression of solemn elegance, it arises from the meeting between the Maison's historic and precious Grands Crus and the mastery of the Chef de Caves, in a dialogue between strength and finesse dominated by the legendary Pinot Noir, which makes it one of the noblest and most recognisable interpretations in all of Champagne.
This tenth edition, Vintage 2015, is celebrated by a dedicated label and coffret created by Paola Paronetto, the first Italian artist chosen by the Maison to interpret the cuvée's packaging, a master of colour known for her paper clay sculptures, who for the occasion chose the delicate Light Peach shade, a luminous echo of the harmony of a solar year. The blend mirrors that same luminosity with a clear predominance of Pinot Noir grapes at 90%, of which 13% red wine from the Clos Colin in Bouzy, completed by 10% Chardonnay and built exclusively on the Maison's historic Grands Crus. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and after tirage comes a prolonged maturation on the lees of at least six years, while the final dosage, in Brut style, accompanies the substance with absolute measure.
On the palate, La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 presents itself with an elegant and deep profile, where spiced notes of pepper, nutmeg and clove intertwine with the delicate aromas of red fruit and with floral hints of rose and violet. The structure is full and enveloping, sustained by a vibrant tension that paces its momentum, in a balance played on the contrast between aromatic richness and mineral clarity. The persistence closes long and refined, leaving a finish of rare precision, character and elegance.
