La Grande Dame Rosé 2012
The Champagne La Grande Dame Rosé by Veuve Clicquot embodies the highest tribute to Madame Clicquot, an emblematic and inspiring woman to whom this Rosé cuvée has been dedicated since its creation in 1962. A solar expression of solemn elegance, it arises from the meeting between the Maison's historic and precious Grands Crus and the mastery of the Chef de Caves, in a dialogue between strength and finesse dominated by the legendary Pinot Noir, which makes it one of the noblest and most recognisable interpretations in all of Champagne.
This ninth edition, Vintage 2012, shows a clear predominance of Pinot Noir grapes at 90%, sourced from the Grands Crus of Aÿ, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay and Bouzy, with 13% red wine from the Clos Colin parcel in Bouzy, completed by 10% Chardonnay from Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and after tirage comes a maturation on the lees of at least six years. The final dosage, in Brut style, accompanies the wine's structure with measure, allowing the depth and elegance of a year that combines maturity and tension to emerge in a balance of rare completeness.
On the palate, La Grande Dame Rosé 2012 presents itself to the eye with a luminous salmon pink colour streaked with coppery reflections, a foretaste of a profile that is at once powerful and refined. After a decisive attack, the texture unfolds towards an elegant and silky dimension, where complexity and liveliness intertwine with great coherence. The persistence is long and pleasing, with a finish that brings together energy and delicacy, delivering a harmonious whole in which strength and finesse find an exemplary synthesis.
