Rosé Vintage 2017
The Champagne Rosé Vintage by Louis Roederer fully embodies the Maison's distinctive style, the one in which the Pinot Noir of Cumières, rich in concentration, fruit and structure, interweaves with the crystalline elegance of the Chardonnays of the Côte des Blancs. Born of the sunlit hills of Cumières, where the light reflected off the Marne caresses the best-exposed vines, this Rosé tells of the pursuit of a perfect ripeness that has always been the true challenge of Champagne.
This edition, Vintage 2017, bears the mark of a complex year and of a selection more rigorous than ever before in the Maison's history, and shows a prevalence of Pinot Noir grapes at 60% flanked by 40% Chardonnay, with a 29% share aged in oak casks to lend breadth and texture. After tirage the wine undergoes a minimum of 48 months of ageing on the lees, completed by at least a further six months of rest in the cellar after dégorgement, a long journey that precedes its release and defines a complete, balanced profile.
On tasting it shows a magnificent pink hue with coppery reflections and a fine, steady effervescence, opening on notes of wild berries and citrus such as blood orange, enhanced by floral nuances of rose petal that oxygenation turns towards iodine, chocolate and spiced accents. On the palate it is silky and refined, of extraordinary elegance, with a velvety weave and an almost liqueur-like fruit at the mid-palate, enlivened by fresh, iodine touches that lead to a long, pure and saline finish of balanced chalky freshness.
