Champagne Perrier-Jouët
Belle Èpoque Edition Automne 2011
The Champagne Belle Époque Édition Automne by Perrier-Jouët is an ephemeral Vintage that Hervé Deschamps dedicated to autumn, a season of strong contrasts made of fleeting flashes, an enveloping sweetness and irresistible pleasures. Available only in a limited edition and declared solely in exceptional years, this creation dresses the iconic bottle decorated with the anemones of Émile Gallé in a rosy shade that recalls the golden light of the season. The Pinot Noir comes from the villages of Mailly, Aÿ, Verzy and Rilly-la-Montagne and brings its opulent energy, while the Chardonnay from the Grand Cru of Cramant, Avize and Le Mesnil offers a note of delicate floral freshness and the Meunier of Dizy adds a touch of sensual vitality, in a composition that reflects the floral and elegant style of the Maison from its very origins.
This edition, Vintage 2011, takes form from a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay and 5% Meunier, enriched by the addition of 15% vin rouge, from which the unusual and seductive rosy highlights derive. Vinification takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and continues with malolactic fermentation, followed by a long ageing of 9 years on the lees in the Maison's chalk cellars, completed by a final dosage in the Brut style that, allowing the generosity of the fruit to emerge, enriches the profile with balance and heightens the aromatic richness of this Champagne.
On tasting, Belle Époque Édition Automne 2011 stands out for its vinosity, generosity and complexity rather than lightness, showing a luminous pure and deep pink colour enlivened by a fine, delicate perlage. On the nose it opens enveloping and deep, with aromas of apricot, pomegranate, blood orange and dog rose that interweave with hints of red currant and subtle nuances of pepper and apple skin. On the palate the soft and generous attack meets a texture endowed with breadth and substance, sustained by a long and finely spiced persistence, a faithful expression of the floral elegance that makes the Maison recognisable throughout the world.
