Champagne Perrier-Jouët
Belle Èpoque Magnum 2013
The Champagne Belle Époque by Perrier-Jouët is the Maison's cuvée de prestige, a rare and elegant Vintage that celebrates the art of blending in the floral style that has distinguished it since its very first appearance in 1964. Released only in the finest years, this Champagne dresses the iconic bottle decorated with the arabesque of Japanese anemones designed by Émile Gallé in 1902, which has become the emblem of the house around the world. Its composition unites the Chardonnay from the Grand Cru terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, which signs its floral character, with the Pinot Noir from the crus of Verzy and Mailly-Champagne, in the north of the Montagne de Reims, where the chalky soils bring elegance and finesse without covering the wine's delicate structure, completed by the Meunier that adds a rounded and accessible touch.
This edition in Magnum format, Vintage 2013, features a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 5% Meunier. Vinification takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and continues with malolactic fermentation, followed by a long ageing on the lees of over 8 years, up to a final dosage in the Brut style that, allowing the purity of the fruit to emerge, completes the profile with balance and heightens the aromatic finesse of this Champagne.
On tasting, Belle Époque 2013 stands out for its delicacy, freshness and elegance rather than power, showing a pale gold colour crossed by subtle apple-green highlights and enlivened by a fine, lively perlage. On the nose it opens with floral notes of linden blossom, followed by hints of ripe pear, grapefruit zest and mandarin that interweave with nuances of ginger and a touch of green pepper. On the palate the generous and lively attack meets a creamy, enveloping texture, sustained by a delicate salinity and a refined persistence, a faithful expression of the floral elegance that makes the Maison recognisable throughout the world.
