Champagne Matthieu Godmé-Guillaume
Terre de Verzy
The Champagne Terre de Verzy by Matthieu-Godmé Guillaume is the result of an equal blend of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%), faithfully representing the identity of the Grand Cru village of Verzy, located in the northern part of the Montagne de Reims. The grapes are sourced from two carefully selected parcels – Vignes Goisses and Barbettes – both characterized by rich soils and a distinctive mineral expression that fully reflects the terroir of origin.
The vinification follows a craft-driven and rigorous approach: fermentation and ageing in oak barrels for around 9 months, with no malolactic fermentation. No fining or filtration is carried out, in line with a philosophy of utmost respect for the raw material. After bottling for the second fermentation, the wine rests on the lees for over three years, before being completed with an Extra Brut dosage (1 g/l) that highlights a style of great finesse and expressive clarity.
On the palate, Terre de Verzy reveals a textural purity and a perfect balance between saline tension and creamy roundness. The potential presence of natural deposits in the bottle is a sign of the vigneron's non-interventionist approach and in no way affects the wine’s quality.
