Champagne Louis Roederer
Starck | Rosé Brut Nature 2018
The Champagne Brut Nature Rosé 2018 is born from the collaboration between Louis Roederer and designer Philippe Starck, a cuvée of pure essentiality and pioneering vision, conceived as a direct response to climate change and as a new idea of contemporary Champagne. From the chalky terroir of Cumières and completed by Starck's refined minimalist design, playing on the warm tones of terracotta and beige, this Rosé weaves together elegance and sobriety in a narrative as innovative as it is coherent.
This edition, Vintage 2018, born of a warm, dry and perfectly healthy year, brings together Pinot Noir grapes, part of them vinified as red, alongside Meunier and Chardonnay from the La Rivière parcel (lieu-dit), where the cépages oubliés Arbane, Pinot Blanc, Petit Meslier and Pinot Gris also coexist. Vinification takes place 31% in wood and forgoes malolactic fermentation to safeguard tension and purity, while after tirage the wine ages for at least six years on the lees before a dégorgement with no final dosage, in a Brut Nature style.
On tasting, the Brut Nature Rosé 2018 surprises with its vibrant freshness and bold, luminous fruit, an authentic expression of the chalky terroir and of the delicate infusion technique used in its making. On the palate it is sleek and seductive, at once structured and full-bodied, with a bright, juicy and saline sensation that fills the mid-palate and stretches into a finish of luminous persistence and rare allure, always taut and elegant.
