Rosé Vintage 2018
The Champagne Rosé Vintage by Louis Roederer fully embodies the Maison's distinctive style, the one in which the Pinot Noir of Cumières, rich in concentration, fruit and structure, interweaves with the crystalline elegance of the Chardonnays of the Côte des Blancs. Born of the sunlit hills of Cumières, where the light reflected off the Marne caresses the best-exposed vines, this Rosé tells of the pursuit of a perfect ripeness that has always been the true challenge of Champagne.
This edition, Vintage 2018, marks a new stylistic direction with a prevalence of Pinot Noir grapes at 60% alongside 40% Chardonnay, and 15% of the wine is aged in wooden casks to add breadth and texture. After tirage comes a minimum of 60 months of ageing on the lees, followed by at least another six months of rest in the cellar after dégorgement, a long journey before release that gives the wine a complete and balanced profile.
In tasting, the Rosé Vintage 2018 shows an intense, deep pink hue with bright red highlights and a continuous, lively perlage, while the nose reveals an expressive Pinot Noir with fresh citrus such as Etna orange, wild raspberry and a reductive nuance that is surprising for such a sunny vintage. On the palate it is broad, juicy and vinous, with a tannic structure that brings depth and a chalky, almost ferrous minerality that balances the character of the vintage, leading to a long, saline and savoury finish.
