La Grande Année Rosé 2018
The Champagne La Grande Année by Bollinger represents the ultimate expression of the House’s finest vintages, interpreted through a handcrafted approach that defines each Millésime. This cuvée embodies a precise vision of artisanal Champagne, rooted in traditional practices such as oak vinification, extended ageing on the lees under natural cork, and manual riddling. An identity shaped over time, combining precision, depth, and remarkable ageing potential.
This Rosé edition, Millésime 2018, originates from a growing season marked by a rainy winter, followed by a mild spring and a warm, dry summer, conditions that ensured optimal grape ripening. The blend combines 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay, sourced from 19 crus classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, with a core from the villages of Aÿ and Verzenay, enhanced by 5% of red wine from the La Côte aux Enfants parcel. Vinification and maturation take place entirely in used oak barrels, followed, after tirage, by more than 7 years of ageing on the lees. The process is completed with manual riddling and manual dégorgement, while a final dosage of 7 g/l, in Brut style, defines a vibrant and elegant profile.
On the palate, La Grande Année Rosé 2018 displays a delicate salmon-pink hue. The nose reveals a progressive complexity with notes of strawberry and redcurrant, followed by citrus and vine peach, with a subtle menthol touch adding freshness. The palate shows crisp red berries, accompanied by a juicy sensation and an expressive finish marked by hints of citrus peel and blood orange.
