Champagne Pol Roger is one of the most recognizable Grandes Marques of Épernay and one of the rare major Champagne houses still under family control. Its history began in 1849, when the young Pol Roger started his wine-related activity in the Épernay area, gradually transforming a personal vision into a Maison destined to become a symbol of continuity, elegance and productive rigour. Its official headquarters are still in Épernay, at 1 rue Winston Churchill, a detail that already reflects the deep connection between family identity, French history and international prestige.

The Maison’s journey stands out for its rare loyalty to its origins. After the founder, his sons Maurice and Georges consolidated the Pol Roger name, gradually turning it into one of the most respected labels in Champagne. Today, the Maison owns 92 hectares of vineyards and preserves a recognizable style, built around elegant, structured but never excessive Champagnes, capable of combining density, precision and great finesse. It is precisely this family continuity, together with careful grape selection and savoir-faire handed down over time, that defines the identity of Pol Roger among the great Champagne Maisons.

A fundamental chapter in its history is its relationship with Winston Churchill, not only a loyal customer but a true friend of the family. The bond was so strong that, after his death in 1965, the Maison paid tribute to the British statesman by placing a mourning band on the White Foil label. From this relationship came the Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, created from the 1975 harvest and presented in 1984 at Blenheim Palace in magnum format, designed to express the qualities Churchill loved in Champagne, namely structure, body, maturity and character.
