Champagne Leclerc Briant
Derrière Les Clos Millésime 2019
The Champagne Derrière Les Clos by Leclerc-Briant is produced in Mailly-Champagne, a historic Grand Cru village of the Montagne de Reims, and represents a parcel-specific expression from a 0.34-hectare vineyard planted with Pinot Noir, located “behind the clos” of the village. This Blanc de Noirs consistently reflects the Domaine’s vision, long focused on a rigorous and respectful reading of the terroir, grounded in organic and biodynamic viticulture, measured interventions, and a constant pursuit of expressive precision. A project that privileges depth, transparency, and stylistic coherence.
This edition, Millésime 2019, undergoes vinification and maturation entirely in oak barrels, a choice designed to support the structure of the variety without overshadowing its territorial identity. After bottling, the wine continues with an ageing on the lees of more than five years, a process that builds complexity, integration, and aromatic depth. The final dosage of just 1.7 g/l, in Extra Brut style, is applied with restraint, allowing the substance and expression of the cru to emerge clearly.
In tasting, Derrière Les Clos 2019 reveals a deep and measured profile, with notes of white and red-fleshed fruit, fresh almond, floral nuances, and subtle spicy accents. On the palate, it shows a broad yet taut texture, supported by well-integrated freshness and a saline mineral character that carries the wine through its development. The finish is long and precise, marked by a finely tuned balance between structure, elegance, and territorial definition.
