Champagne Georges Remy
Les Quatre Terroirs N°22
The Champagne Les Quatre Terroirs by Georges Remy tells the story of the Montagne de Reims as a mosaic, bringing together grapes from four villages that are close to one another yet profoundly different, Bouzy, Ambonnay and Louvois, classified Grand Cru, along with Tauxières, Premier Cru. Each village carries a recognisable accent of its own, from the sunlit warmth of the best exposed slopes to the saline tension of the cooler plots, and from their meeting comes a broad, finely articulated portrait of this part of Champagne. It is a choral reading of the land, in which the expressive power of Pinot Noir finds in the freshness of Chardonnay the counterpoint it needs to stay vibrant.
This edition n°22, built on the 2022 harvest base and completed by 10% vin de réserve from the 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018 harvests, brings together 91% Pinot Noir grapes and 9% Chardonnay. Vinification and maturation take place over around 10 months in fût de chêne with spontaneous fermentations, an approach that leaves the fruit free to express itself in its most authentic form and leads the wine towards a broad, natural texture. After the tirage comes a rest of around 30 months on the lees, while at dégorgement the wine is left with no final dosage, in a Brut Nature style, confirming an essential and direct way of writing.
On tasting, Les Quatre Terroirs N°22 shows itself complex and lively, with aromas of red fruit, quince, brioche and delicate spicy notes. On the palate it is elegant and silky, crossed by a vibrant mineral tension and by the chalky hints typical of the Montagne de Reims, with toasted shades that widen the structure without ever weighing it down. The finale is fresh and saline, of great persistence, confirming the balance reached between breadth and rigour.
