L'ascendant

The Champagne L'Ascendant by Mouzon-Leroux embodies the very idea of evolution and progression, just as its name suggests. This cuvée springs from the concept of the "ascendant," understood as a constant journey upward, an expression of growth and transformation. Made exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in Verzy, in the Grande Montagne de Reims, this Champagne precisely reflects the identity of a terroir capable of lending its wines depth, tension and structure. The blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay offers a harmonious balance between power and freshness, defining an elegant and authentic profile.

This edition, 2019 base vintage (50%), is joined by a solera begun in 2014, established from one of the Domaine's historic cuvées, "L'Atavique." This approach embodies the philosophy of Mouzon-Leroux, in which memory and innovation coexist to create complex and coherent wines. Ageing on the lees lasts at least 48 months, and dégorgement is carried out with no dosage (Brut Nature), preserving intact the expressive purity of the terroir and the stylistic precision of the Maison.

On tasting, L'Ascendant reveals a bright golden colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose is elegant and layered, with aromas of ripe fruit, citrus, toasted hazelnut and bread crust. On the palate it opens with vibrant freshness and well-defined structure, underpinned by an incisive minerality that signs the character of Verzy. The finish is long, clean and harmonious, with a saline persistence that heightens the sense of balance and tension.
