Empreinte Magnum
The Champagne Empreinte by René Geoffroy is a Blanc de Noirs born from the terroir of Cumières, a Premier Cru village of the Vallée de la Marne where Pinot Noir reaches one of its most accomplished expressions. The fruit of a careful selection of four south-facing parcels, with vines over thirty years of age, this Champagne faithfully and vividly translates the chalky identity of its terroir, weaving together depth and brightness in a story that reflects Cumières' historic calling for Pinot Noir and its ability to yield wines that are balanced, fresh and persistent.
This edition, Vendage 2015, sees the grapes harvested and pressed together before a vinification and maturation carried out mainly in foudres and demi-muids. After the tirage follows a long ageing on the lees of more than 60 months, capable of lending breadth and tactile richness. The final dosage of 3 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, enhances the purity of the fruit and the natural tension of the wine.
On tasting, the Empreinte 2015 reveals a full, enveloping body of remarkable tactile density, where the ample substance of the Pinot Noir finds constant support in a ripe, vibrant acidity. The structure unfolds with composure, balanced by a freshness that lengthens its profile and by a subtle phenolic weave that sculpts its finish. The persistence is long and deep, closed by a delicately almond-like nuance that intertwines power and finesse in a taut, finely chiselled finale.
