Champagne Petraea V by Francis Boulard embodies the essence of the cuvée perpétuelle, interpreted through the Solera method, consistently applied to the Champagne vinification process. Starting with the 2014 harvest, this cuvée has been relaunched in a certified organic version, underscoring the Domaine’s commitment to a production philosophy that respects both the terroir and the natural rhythm of winemaking.

Made exclusively from pure Pinot Noir, sourced from the Lieu-Dit "Le Murtet", located in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, this Champagne originates from sandy-limestone soils that lend finesse to its structure and a lifted aromatic profile. Fermentation and ageing take place in 25 hl oak casks, with no fining or filtration, in line with the Domaine’s artisanal approach. The wine is disgorged with no dosage (Brut Nature, 0 g/l), enhancing the purity of the grape variety and the elegance of its place of origin.

On the palate, Petraea V stands out for its aromatic depth and vibrant energy. The bouquet opens with notes of ripe red fruits, citrus peel, and subtle spices, while the mouthfeel reveals a broad, generous substance, balanced by a mineral tension and a saline persistence that define its pure, sincere, and terroir-driven character.

Francis Boulard

In 2009, when Raymond Boulard’s three children chose to pursue their own professional paths, the family’s historic activity came to an end. The legacy, however, was carried forward by Francis, his wife Jeanne, and their daughter Delphine, who founded Francis Boulard Champagne & Fils, maintaining a strong connection to the terroir and family savoir-faire. From the outset, Francis oriented the estate toward environmentally respectful viticulture, adopting organic and biodynamic practices with the aim of achieving full organic certification.

Drawing on a six-generation legacy of vignerons, he leads the Domaine with experience and vision, placing great emphasis on both vineyard and cellar work. The vineyards are mainly located in Cormicy, in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, northwest of Reims, on hills known as the Petite Montagne de Reims. Here, the adopted methods enhance wines with a strong territorial identity, characterized by aromatic complexity, mineral tension, and solid structure, making Francis Boulard’s production among the most compelling in the area.
