Champagne Francis Boulard
Le Murtet 2020
The Champagne Le Murtet 2020 by Francis Boulard originates from a single parcel (Lieu-dit) located in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, cultivated according to certified organic principles. The vines, averaging around thirty years of age, produce a single harvest composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The blending occurs directly during pressing, ensuring a natural harmony between the two varieties and a faithful expression of the vintage.
Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in new demi-muids, accompanied by gentle bâtonnage that enhances texture and complexity. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, while fining and filtration are deliberately avoided to preserve the wine’s integrity. Ageing on the lees lasts at least 36 months, followed by disgorgement without dosage (Brut Nature, 0 g/l), to highlight the fruit’s purity and the transparency of the terroir.
On tasting, Le Murtet 2020 appears luminous, with a pale golden hue and subtle copper reflections. The nose is deep and precise, marked by notes of ripe yellow fruit, candied citrus, sweet spices, and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it reveals both energy and finesse: the texture is creamy yet taut, supported by a saline minerality that extends into a long, vibrant finish. A Champagne of great purity and intensity, faithfully reflecting the spirit of its lieu-dit.
