Les Terres d'illite 2020
The Champagne Les Terres d'illite 2020 by Famille Moussé is a Blanc de Noirs crafted from 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir, sourced from a single large harvest in Cuisles. The cuvée takes its name from the green clay typical of this terroir, a shallow soil rich in well-drained marly limestone, consistently characterized by a deep layer of illite, a rare and precious element in pedology.
This clay has the unique ability to retain moisture even during the driest summers, ensuring the vines a steady water supply and allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. The fineness and purity of illite impart intensity and precision to the wine, highlighting the distinctive character of Cuisles. After vinification, the wine ages for over 24 months on the lees and is finished with a dosage of just 2.5 g/l, resulting in a rigorous Extra Brut style.
On the palate, Les Terres d’Illite 2020 reveals itself as an enveloping and refined Champagne, showing a bright golden hue and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose opens with notes of ripe yellow fruit, candied citrus, and delicate floral hints, underpinned by a subtle mineral core. The palate is creamy yet vibrant, supported by saline freshness and a lingering aromatic finish.
