Chardonnay "Les Genettes" 2017
The Champagne Chardonnay “Les Genettes” 2017 by Eric Rodez is a Blanc de Blancs crafted from the namesake Lieu-Dit, located in the prestigious Grand Cru of Ambonnay. The vineyard, with an average age of over 35 years, benefits from an ideal exposure and rich soils that lend the Chardonnay remarkable finesse and depth.
The 2017 harvest, though challenging, yielded grapes of good concentration thanks to meticulous selection during picking. Vinification takes place entirely in wood, following an artisanal approach aimed at enhancing the character of the vintage. After tirage, the wine matures on the lees for at least six years, developing structure, elegance, and a richly layered aromatic profile. Disgorgement is carried out with a low dosage, consistent with the Domaine’s pursuit of purity.
On the palate, “Les Genettes” 2017 reveals notes of citrus, chalk, white flowers, and fresh almond, forming a chiselled and luminous bouquet. It shows a sharp mineral backbone paired with subtle creaminess, leading into a long, saline, and precise finish. A Blanc de Blancs of rare identity, faithfully expressing both its Lieu-Dit and the vision of Eric Rodez.
