Champagne Eric Rodez
Rosé Les Beurys - Macération 2017
The Champagne Rosé Les Beurys - Macération 2017 by Eric Rodez comes from a single parcel located in the prestigious Grand Cru of Ambonnay, one of the most renowned areas of the Montagne de Reims for expressing Pinot Noir. The Lieu-Dit Les Beurys, rooted in chalky soils rich in clay, produces grapes of great aromatic intensity and natural phenolic richness—ideal for the maceration technique that Rodez employs to enhance complexity, structure, and depth.
The 2017 harvest, marked by moderate yields and meticulous sorting in the vineyard, produced Pinot Noir of notable concentration. Vinification involves a controlled maceration of the skins to extract colour and matter in a measured way, followed by fermentation in small oak barrels, in keeping with the Domaine’s artisanal style. Malolactic fermentation is only partially completed to preserve freshness and tension. After tirage, the wine ages at least five years on the lees, developing breadth, finesse, and complexity; disgorgement is carried out with a low dosage, in Extra-Brut style.
On the palate, Rosé Les Beurys 2017 displays a bright copper-pink hue and a fine, delicate mousse. The nose is deep and multi-layered, offering aromas of ripe red berries, pomegranate, redcurrant, blood orange zest, and subtle spice notes, supported by a gentle toasted nuance. The palate is broad, enveloping, and vinous, balanced by vibrant tension and a precise mineral structure that gives drive and definition. The finish is long, saline, and layered, with returning notes of red berries and sweet spices—an authentic expression of the Lieu-Dit and the winemaking sensibility of Eric Rodez.
