Les Hautes Vignes "Le Mont Benoit" 2017
The Champagne Les Hautes Vignes by Emmanuel Brochet originates in the Premier Cru village of Villers-aux-Nœuds, in the Montagne de Reims, from a single parcel (lieu-dit) “Le Mont Benoît”, where an equal blend of Meunier and Chardonnay from vines planted in 1962 through massal selection delivers a precise and coherent expression of the terroir. The producer’s approach is focused on attentive viticulture and a winemaking philosophy aimed at preserving the vineyard’s original identity.
This edition, Vintage 2017, takes shape through vinification and fermentation in oak barrels, with a maturation of around 11 months on fine lees, a choice that builds structure and complexity while maintaining balance and precision. After tirage, the wine undergoes lees ageing for at least 6 years, enhancing depth and layered character. The final dosage of 2 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves a clean and focused profile.
On the palate, Les Hautes Vignes 2017 stands out for its tense and layered profile, with notes of ripe citrus, white fruit, and subtle toasted and mineral nuances. The structure is broad yet dynamic, supported by well-integrated freshness that leads to a long, balanced, and persistent finish. Total production amounts to 3,189 bottles.
