Champagne Domaine des Tuileries
Les Crayères 2020
The Champagne Les Crayères from Domaine des Tuileries is conceived as an identity-driven interpretation of the parcels cultivated by Bryan Marx on the hillsides of Venteuil, in the Vallée de la Marne. The project, launched in 2018, is rooted in a respectful agricultural approach and in an artisanal reading of the chalky and clay-limestone soils that define the village. The cuvée pays homage to the chalk cave located among the vines, a natural environment that dictates the rhythm of vinification and ageing, reflecting the mineral energy typical of the terroir.
This edition, from the 2020 harvest, is crafted from a blend of 45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 10% Meunier — proportions that may vary slightly depending on the year — vinified and aged in fût de chêne with spontaneous fermentations and minimal intervention. The vintage, marked by remarkable climatic consistency, yielded grapes of notable aromatic purity and structure. After tirage, the wine ages for at least 36 months in the domaine’s chalk cellar, where constant temperature and humidity promote slow and harmonious evolution. No final dosage is added: it is released as Brut Nature, in line with the desire to express the terroir with complete transparency.
On the palate, Les Crayères 2020 shows a clean, radiant profile: the nose reveals notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, damp chalk and subtle toasted nuances from the wood. The palate combines freshness and depth, with a creamy texture supported by incisive minerality that imparts verticality and drive. The finish is long and precise, marked by saline echoes and a finesse that faithfully reflects the character of the chalk cave that gives the cuvée its name.
