Clos du Châteaux 2019

The Champagne Clos du Châteaux from the Domaine des Tuileries is born as an identity-driven expression of a clos located on the hillsides of Venteuil, in the Vallée de la Marne, entirely devoted to Chardonnay. The project, led by Bryan Marx, combines a respectful agricultural approach, oriented toward organic viticulture, with an artisan vision that places vineyard interpretation at its core, highlighting the chalky and clay-limestone soils, the privileged micro-exposure, and the intimate scale of the clos. The aim is to shape a Chardonnay capable of conveying expressive purity, mineral energy, and a faithful reflection of its landscape of origin.

This Millésime 2019 edition is vinified and matured in oak barrels (fût de chêne), a choice that allows the vintage to find a natural balance between structure and tension without overshadowing the wine’s identity. Spontaneous fermentations, carried out without corrective interventions, preserve the integrity of the fruit, while ageing continues for at least 48 months on the lees in an underground cellar carved into the chalk—an ideal environment for slow, harmonious maturation. Dégorgement without dosage defines an essential Brut Nature style, focused on fruit expression and the mineral verticality of the terroir.

On tasting, Clos du Châteaux 2019 reveals a taut, luminous profile, marked by citrus notes, green apple, white flowers, and delicate chalky nuances. On the palate, the attack is precise, supported by vibrant acidity that carries a saline, mineral texture, shaping a slender yet deep structure. The progression is linear and dynamic, leading to a long, dry, and perfectly balanced finish, where freshness, tension, and expressive purity coexist with natural ease.
