Clos du Châteaux 2020

The Champagne Clos du Châteaux from Domaine des Tuileries is conceived as an identity-driven expression of a walled vineyard—100% Chardonnay—located on the hills of Venteuil, in the Vallée de la Marne. The project, led by Bryan Marx, combines a respectful, organically oriented agricultural approach with an artisanal interpretation that highlights the chalky and clay-limestone soils, the privileged micro-exposure, and the intimate nature of the clos. The aim is to obtain a Chardonnay that reflects purity, mineral energy, and a clear reading of the landscape from which it originates.

This Millésime 2020 edition undergoes vinification and maturation in fût de chêne, where the vintage finds balance between structure and tension. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, without corrective interventions, and ageing continues for a minimum of 48 months on the lees in the underground cellar carved into chalk—an ideal environment for slow, harmonious maturation. Disgorgement is carried out with no dosage, defining an essential Brut Nature style focused on fruit expression and the mineral verticality of the terroir.

On the palate, Clos du Châteaux 2020 displays a radiant texture and an aromatic profile intertwining citrus notes, white flowers, fresh almond, and hints of chalk and wet stone. The palate reveals a balance between fullness and tension, with vibrant minerality, a fine texture derived from barrel ageing, and a long, saline, incisive finish that confirms the wine’s precision, depth, and stylistic coherence. The persistence, elegant and vertical, faithfully conveys the signature of the vintage and of the clos.
