Les Clos Barret 2018
The Champagne Le Clos Barret 2018 by Denis Salomon is an extraordinary cuvée with a distinctive personality, crafted from the blend of the seven grape varieties authorized in Champagne: Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Petit Meslier, Arbane, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. A tribute as rare as it is fascinating to the biodiversity of the region, this single-vineyard cuvée fully expresses itself through grapes harvested from the Clos Barret Lieu-Dit, located near Port à Binson, and entirely from the 2018 vintage.
Vinification takes place in 205-litre oak barrels, with spontaneous fermentations and no filtration; malolactic fermentation is not sought, in order to preserve the wine's natural tension. After bottling, Le Clos Barret aged for over 5 years on the lees, with no final dosage (Brut Nature – 0 g/l) and disgorgement carried out between 3 and 6 months prior to release, ensuring perfect expressive maturity.
On the palate, Le Clos Barret 2018 impresses with a vibrant, multilayered bouquet, where rare floral notes intertwine with hints of citrus, yellow fruit, and delicate spices. The taste reveals energy and precision, supported by a sharp minerality and a savoury structure that mirrors both the varietal richness and artisan approach behind its creation.
Produced in only 677 bottles, Le Clos Barret 2018 stands as a unique work, showcasing the eclectic potential of Champagne’s noble grape varieties.
