Paul Bara

Domaine Paul Bara has deep roots in Bouzy, the Grand Cru village of the Montagne de Reims renowned for the power and finesse of its Pinot Noir. Founded in 1833 and family-run ever since, it is one of the most authentic historic estates in Champagne, and in the 1950s Paul Bara became the first of the dynasty to sell Champagne under his own name. Since 2021 the estate has been led by Stéphanie Ducloux, working alongside Chantale Bara, an emblematic figure of the family.

A member of the Club Trésors de Champagne, which brings together some of the region's finest independent vignerons, the Domaine combines technical precision with loyalty to tradition, using stainless steel vinifications that preserve freshness and aromatic purity along with a skilful use of vin de réserve that lends complexity and stylistic continuity. Since 2023 the role of Chef de Cave has been held by Grégory Baert, heir to more than thirty years of work by Christian Forget.

The estate vineyard covers around 11 hectares divided into 33 parcels, with a clear predominance of Pinot Noir alongside a small share of Chardonnay, and the vines, often of considerable age, grow on chalky soils that give the wines elegance and structure. Certified Haute Valeur Environnementale since 2020, the Domaine practises natural grass cover, gentle soil work and the avoidance of herbicides and insecticides. The result is a straight, distinctive Champagne that invites you to discover the Grand Cru soul of Bouzy.
