Grande RĂ©serve
The Champagne Grande Réserve by Vilmart tells the soul of a single terroir, that of the Premier Cru of Rilly-la-Montagne, on the northern slope of the Montagne de Reims, where clay-limestone soils lend depth and drive to the wines. An expression of an artisanal philosophy handed down for generations, it appears as a cuvée of great elegance and structure, able to unite the generosity of its material with precision of gesture and a rare aromatic finesse.
This edition, Brut Sans Année, features a blend with a predominant share of Pinot Noir grapes alongside 30% Chardonnay, with vinification and fermentation carried out entirely in oak barrels for around ten months, without malolactic fermentation so as to preserve intact the tension and freshness of the wine. After tirage it undergoes ageing on the lees for at least thirty months, while the final dosage of 7 g/l, in a Brut style, completes with measure and balance a profile that is crisp, vibrant and finely chiselled in every nuance.
On tasting, Grande RĂ©serve it shows a luminous golden hue crossed by a fine and persistent perlage, while the nose opens on fragrant notes of biscuit, ripe wheat, juicy pear and cherry that evolve toward deeper scents of undergrowth, sweet spices and melted butter. On the palate it proves ample and harmonious, with a well-defined structure in which ripe fruit interweaves with toasted nuances and a vibrant minerality, toward a long, fresh and elegant finish rounded off by a touch of liquorice.
