The Champagne Extra Brut Extra Old by Veuve Clicquot was born from the desire to isolate the true essence of the Brut Yellow Label, giving rise to a cuvée built entirely on long-aged vin de réserve. It is a tribute to the Maison's taste memory, a rare multivintage that holds within it several decades of history and reveals how time, patiently preserved, can transform itself into depth, complexity and a rare expressive purity.
This Edition N°5 is born from the meeting of 7 prestigious vintages — 1998, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 — selected for their freshness, generosity and structure, in a blend that brings together 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier. After an initial maturation in wooden vats for at least three years, the bottling sets off a further three years of ageing on the lees. The final dosage of 3 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, preserves its gustatory tension while enhancing its natural elegance.
On the palate, Extra Brut Extra Old N°5 reveals a structure that is at once powerful and silky, broad and deep, where richness blends with a mineral purity of rare clarity. The balance unfolds with great composure, sustained by a vibrant freshness that runs across the palate, while the persistence accompanies the finish with coherence and long breadth, delivering a whole of extraordinary harmony in which each vintage finds its own voice.
