Grand Siecle Itération N°27
The Champagne Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier, a multi-vintage cuvée created in 1959, represents the Maison's most ambitious idea, that of recreating the perfect year through the art of blending rather than relying on a single harvest. Born from the union of three complementary vintages, it reflects the conviction that the hand of man can attain a balance that nature, on its own, cannot offer. The name itself evokes the splendour of seventeenth-century France and the harmony of the gardens of Versailles, a symbol of that pursuit of the absolute which runs through every gesture and every choice of this cuvée de prestige.
This edition, Itération N°27, blends three exceptional vintages, 2015 for 65%, 2013 for 25% and 2012 for 10%, in a dialogue that fuses maturity, freshness and finesse. The composition shows a predominance of Chardonnay grapes at 60%, mainly from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant, completed by 40% Pinot Noir, above all from Tours-sur-Marne, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzy, all villages classified as Grand Cru. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and, after tirage, a long ageing of at least ten years on the lees follows, capable of lending depth and a silky texture.
On the palate, Grand Siècle Itération N°27 appears with a sparkling gold robe traversed by delicate, persistent bubbles that herald a complex structure. The attack is fresh and vibrant, sustained by a thoroughbred minerality that runs through the entire palate and governs its balance between richness and tension. The progression is broad and harmonious, rich in mellow nuances and constant vitality, while the persistence unfolds long and refined, confirming the breadth of a wine conceived to endure over time.
