Champagne Veuve Clicquot
Cuvée Saint-Pétersbourg
The Champagne Cuvée Saint-Pétersbourg by Veuve Clicquot pays tribute to the courage and character of Madame Clicquot, who in 1814 carried out the first shipment of Champagne to Saint-Pétersbourg, when Russia had not yet reopened its borders. That bold and pioneering gesture still lives on today in a cuvée that celebrates her determination, preserving the stylistic continuity and identity of one of the most recognisable names in all of Champagne.
This edition, crafted from wines sourced from around sixty Crus, shows a predominance of Pinot Noir grapes ranging between 50 and 55%, which lend structure and power, joined by roughly a third of Chardonnay grapes for finesse and elegance and 15-20% Meunier grapes to complete its roundness. The vin de réserve account for 25 to 40% of the blend depending on the year. After tirage comes a long maturation on the lees of at least thirty-six months, to which a further six-month rest after dégorgement is added, fully harmonising its balance.
On the palate, the Cuvée Saint-Pétersbourg reveals a balance in which structure and finesse coexist naturally, delivering a broad and harmonious texture sustained by vibrant freshness. The persistence accompanies the palate with great coherence, unveiling refined notes of evolution that extend the finish, while the enveloping roundness lends the whole depth and elegance, in a compact and perfectly balanced progression of long, defined breadth.
