Les Robarts 2017

The Champagne Les Robarts by Suenen is a Blanc de Blancs that tells with clarity of a single patch of land on the border between Cramant and Avize, the lieu-dit Les Robarts, where the clay becomes denser and more compact. The vineyard sinks into a soil characterised by the typical Campanian limestone and is composed of vines with an average age of thirty-nine years, planted between 1951 and 2005 and mostly exposed to the south. From this plot comes a wine of strong territorial identity, where breadth and minerality tell of an exceptional terroir interpreted with respect and artisanal sensitivity.

This edition, Vintage 2017, is born exclusively from Chardonnay grapes and undergoes vinification and maturation in a 14-hectolitre foudre, where the wine rests for around 9 months. After bottling comes a long ageing on the lees for around 6 years, which enriches complexity and harmony without altering its original purity, while the final dosage of 3 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, enhances its precision and balance in perfect coherence with the vigneron's expressive philosophy.

On tasting, Les Robarts 2017 stands out for a broad and luminous profile, supported by a chalky minerality that lends momentum and definition to the palate. Aromas of fresh fruit and citrus intertwine with buttery and vanilla nuances that evoke freshly baked brioche, in an intense and finely chiselled texture. The balance between richness and saline tension delivers a long and vibrant persistence, where the great aromatic freshness signs off a clean, deep finish of strong territorial identity. Production in a limited run of 2,718 bottles.
