The Champagne La Cocluette by Suenen is a Blanc de Blancs that tells with rare precision of a single patch of land in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, the lieu-dit La Cocluette in Oiry. The vineyard, planted in 1925, sinks into thin soils of silty clay over a substrate of Campanian limestone, with a northern exposure that preserves a vibrant freshness and a taut aromatic profile. From this historic plot comes a wine of strong territorial identity, where mineral finesse and verticality tell of an exceptional terroir interpreted with respect and artisanal sensitivity.

This edition, Vintage 2017, is born exclusively from Chardonnay grapes and undergoes vinification and maturation in a 14-hectolitre foudre, where the wine rests for around 9 months. After bottling comes a long ageing on the lees for around 6 years, which enriches complexity and harmony without altering its original purity, while the final dosage of 3 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, enhances its precision and balance in perfect coherence with the vigneron's expressive philosophy.

On tasting, La Cocluette 2017 stands out for a sharp energy and a tension that develops in a linear and crystalline progression. The intense citrus notes are accompanied by an airy touch and an absolute precision, in a taut and finely chiselled texture that lends momentum and definition to the palate. The balance between freshness and depth delivers a long and slender persistence, where a subtle bitter trail signs off a clean, refined finish of great character. Production in a limited run of 1,801 bottles.
