Champagne Laurent-Perrier
Grand Cuvée Rosé Alexandra Magnum 2004
The Champagne Grande Cuvée Alexandra Rosé by Laurent-Perrier embodies the Maison's utmost expression of passion and absolute excellence, a rare cuvée born in 1987 from a gesture of love and produced only in the years when Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reach full maturity together. Behind its aura lies a philosophy of extreme selection, capable of translating the noblest terroirs of Champagne into a rosé of rare intensity and elegance. The bottle too tells of this pursuit of the absolute, with a singular shape inspired by the great glassmakers of the seventeenth century and by the flasks that held the first sparkling Champagnes of the French court.
This edition, Vintage 2004 Magnum, is born from a generous, opulent year, marked by a rainy spring and summer and by a dry, warm September that ensured an intense ripening. The composition expresses a clear predominance of Pinot Noir grapes at 80%, joined by 20% Chardonnay already during maceration, from some of the finest Grand Cru vineyards, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay for the former and Avize, Cramant and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for the latter. After tirage, a long ageing of at least 12 years on the lees follows, completed by a final dosage of 8 g/l, in Brut style.
On the palate, Grande Cuvée Alexandra Rosé 2004 appears with a salmon-pink colour traversed by a fine, highly persistent effervescence that heralds a refined profile. On the nose it reveals itself as complex, with notes of wild strawberries and redcurrant enhanced by candied citrus, while on the palate the balance is built on the dialogue between a soft texture and a clear, vibrant minerality. The structure is elegant and well defined, sustained by a freshness that governs its progression, while the persistence unfolds long and delicate, closing on a return of red fruit that confirms the finesse of this wine.
