Champagne Les Auges 2020 by Nicolas Maillart is a Blanc de Noirs of remarkable intensity, crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grown in the eponymous parcel, classified as Premier Cru and located in the village of Villers-Allerand, on the Montagne de Reims. This lieu-dit, characterized by clay-limestone soils with deposits of sand and pebbles, promotes balanced ripening of the grapes, endowing the wine with depth and structure.
The 2020 harvest was vinified entirely in fût de chêne, with spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts and no filtration, in line with the Domaine’s artisanal and respectful philosophy. After bottling, the wine aged for over 42 months on the lees, before being disgorged with a minimal dosage of 1 g/l (Extra Brut), thus preserving the full authenticity of the grape variety and its terroir.
On the palate, Les Auges 2020 unveils a rich and enveloping profile, marked by notes of ripe red fruits, medicinal herbs, spicy undertones, and mineral nuances. The mouthfeel is dense, dynamic, and saline, with a sharp finish that highlights the balance between matter, energy, and precision. A cuvée that elegantly embodies Nicolas Maillart’s vision and the identity of his terroir.
