La Petite Montagne Magnum

The Champagne La Petite Montagne by Maxime Ponson comes from the Petite Montagne de Reims, a sub-region that holds some of the oldest roots of Meunier in Champagne. An authentic expression of this landscape, the cuvée gathers the soul of Premier Cru vineyards scattered across chalky hills and sandy soils, where the producing philosophy favours full respect for the environment and a sustainable approach able to convey in the wine the truth of the place it comes from.

This edition, based on the 2019 harvest, is enriched with around 30% of vin de réserve that broadens the aromatic depth and lends greater complexity to the final result. The blend shows a prevalence of 43% Chardonnay grapes, joined by 34% Meunier and 23% Pinot Noir, while vinification and fermentation follow a natural path free of filtration. After tirage comes an ageing on the lees of at least 48 months, and the final dosage of 2 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, delivers a profile of great finesse and precise structure.

On tasting, La Petite Montagne stands out for its refined balance between vibrant freshness and an enveloping structure that supports the entire gustatory development. On the palate the texture becomes elegant and cohesive, with a fine, continuous perlage accompanying a long and harmonious persistence, where the mineral tension converses with softness in a clean and perfectly balanced finish.
