Montmiret 2020
The Champagne Montmiret by Maxime Ponson is a single-parcel Blanc de Blancs cuvée from the Petite Montagne de Reims, where the sandy soils lend the wine a crisp freshness and a marked identity. The fruit of a single Premier Cru vineyard, it reflects a sustainable, non-interventionist approach able to convey with great fidelity the authentic character of the place it comes from.
This edition, from the 2020 harvest, is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, with vinification and ageing carried out in barrique and with no added sulphites, in a natural process that preserves the integrity of the raw material. After tirage comes an ageing on the lees of over 30 months that amplifies its depth, and the absence of final dosage, in a Brut Nature style, lets the wine speak in its most transparent form, enhancing its tension and precision.
On tasting, Montmiret stands out for a taut, crystalline balance, where freshness guides the development with a clean cadence supported by a dry, vertical structure. On the palate the texture reveals remarkable finesse, with a delicate perlage accompanying a long, saline persistence, in a mineral and deep finish that seals its clarity and expressive coherence. Production in a limited run of 1,700 bottles.
