The Champagne Cristal by Louis Roederer stands as one of the most iconic and recognizable expressions of Champagne, created in 1876 at the request of Tsar Alexander II, who sought an exclusive cuvée of absolute excellence. Its identity is rooted in a rigorous selection of the finest terroirs of the Maison, where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir achieve a refined balance, while the famous flat-bottomed crystal bottle highlights its uniqueness and prestige.
This edition, Vintage 2012, is crafted from approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, harvested in a challenging yet remarkable year that delivered outstanding results thanks to very low yields and high levels of ripeness. The harvest also marks a significant milestone as the first entirely from biodynamically farmed grapes. Vinification and fermentation guide the wine toward depth and precision, while after tirage it undergoes extended ageing on the lees, enhancing its structure, complexity, and definition.
On the palate, Cristal 2012 reveals a deep and luminous profile, with a rich and vinous texture supported by a chalky freshness that brings energy and precision. It stands out for its balance and finesse, offering a broad yet controlled structure and a long, harmonious persistence, combining power and delicacy in a synthesis of great elegance.
