Blanc de Blancs Magnum 2015
The Champagne Blanc de Blancs by Louis Roederer comes to life in the heart of the CĂ´te des Blancs, where Chardonnay finds its purest and most refined expression. Sourced from the Lieu-Dit "La CĂ´te" in the prestigious Grand Cru of Avize, this wine reflects the identity of a unique terroir, in which the chalky matrix lends finesse, tension and aromatic depth.
This edition, Vintage 2015, celebrates an extraordinary harvest, coinciding with the year Champagne was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Perfectly in step with the continental trend of the decade, 2015 alternated a mild, wet winter with a hot, sunny summer, remembered for its records of heat and drought, before a saving rain in the second half of August restored the relief the vines needed. Thanks to this cooler finale, ripening gave rise to juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes, with the ambition of capturing the essence of a spectacular year.
On tasting, the Blanc de Blancs 2015 shows a bright yellow colour with green reflections and a creamy, extremely fine effervescence, with a mineral bouquet of ripe citrus, white flowers and notes of almond and wheat, enlivened by touches of mint, iodine and smoky nuances. On the palate the attack is creamy and concentrated, with a dense texture and a resolutely saline finish, drawn out by boisé and fumé accents that reveal its complexity and an exceptional ageing potential.
