Celebris Blanc de Blancs 2012

The Champagne Celebris Blanc de Blancs 2012 by Gosset represents the pinnacle of the Maison Gosset, a Grand Vineven before being a Grand Champagne. This cuvée of exceptional rarity marks the first edition of the Celebris Blanc de Blancs Vintage. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it comes from some of the most prestigious Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims: Ambonnay, Avize, Cramant, Cumières, Passy-sur-Marne, Trépail, Vertus, Villers-Marmery, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The grapes, harvested in a single vintage – 2012, a year defined by balance and tension – provided Chef de Cave Odilon de Varine with the perfect material to interpret Celebris according to the canons of purity, energy, and elegance.

Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats, without undergoing malolactic fermentation. After tirage, the wine undergoes an extended maturation on its lees for over 8 years, a period that forms an integral part of its identity. The profile is completed with a Brut dosage of 7 g/l, which further refines balance and finesse.

On tasting, the Celebris Blanc de Blancs 2012 reveals a golden hue with emerald reflections and an extremely fine perlage. On the nose, it offers mentholated nuances and fruity notes of pink grapefruit and frangipane. The palate is frank and fresh, marked by hints of lemon, followed by gourmet notes of baked apples with salted butter, tarte tatin, and far breton. The complexity is enriched with spicy accents of candied ginger and star anise. The finish is long, tonic, and mineral, with echoes of Reinette apple and citrus. Produced in a limited edition of only 15,000 bottles.

Gosset

Gosset is the oldest Maison in Champagne, founded in 1584 in Aÿ by Pierre Gosset, lord and Échevin of the village. The family's roots trace back to Jean Gosset (1484-1556), "Lord of Aÿ and Mareuil", the first documented ancestor of the dynasty. For sixteen generations of direct lineage, the Gosset family has safeguarded a savoir-faire passed down from father to son, until 1993, when the Maison joined the family-owned Renaud-Cointreau group, which has since devotedly preserved its original style and identity.

In 2009, on the occasion of its 425th anniversary, the Maison moved to Épernay into the splendid Hôtel Trouillard, an early twentieth-century building set within a protected park, beneath which stretch around five kilometres of galleries carved into the chalk, reaching depths of up to twenty metres. Here, a constant temperature and humidity of around eighty percent accompany the slow ageing of the bottles. Its iconic emblem remains the celebrated bouteille antique, introduced by Jean Gosset in 1760 and adorned with the refined medaillon en sautoir designed by Albert Gosset.

The vineyards span approximately 140 hectares across a refined mosaic of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus in the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, with plots in the most prestigious villages such as Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Vertus and Cumières. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier give rise to an unmistakable style, defined by mineral freshness, vinosity and finesse, sustained by the Viticulture Durable en Champagne certification. Each bottle thus becomes the reflection of more than four centuries of timeless elegance, preserved in the most authentic spirit of Champagne.
