Grand Siècle Itération N°24 Magnum
The Champagne Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier, a multi-vintage cuvée created in 1959, represents the Maison's most ambitious idea, that of recreating the perfect year through the art of blending rather than relying on a single harvest. Born from the union of three complementary vintages, it reflects the conviction that the hand of man can attain a balance that nature, on its own, cannot offer. The name itself evokes the splendour of seventeenth-century France and the harmony of the gardens of Versailles, a symbol of that pursuit of the absolute which runs through every gesture and every choice of this cuvée de prestige.
This edition, Itération N°24 Magnum, blends three exceptional vintages, 2007 for 60%, 2006 for 20% and 2004 for 20%, in a dialogue that fuses maturity, freshness and finesse. The composition shows a predominance of Chardonnay grapes at 55%, mainly from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant, completed by 45% Pinot Noir, above all from Tours-sur-Marne, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzy, all villages classified as Grand Cru. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and, after tirage, a long ageing of at least 14 years on the lees follows, capable of lending depth and a silky texture.
On the palate, Grand Siècle Itération N°24 appears to the eye with a bright gold hue and a fine, persistent effervescence. On the nose it unveils a deep, multifaceted bouquet, where notes of candied lemon and clementine interweave with hints of toasted bread and fresh hazelnut. On the palate it expresses a fresh, mineral attack, silky in its development, enriched by nuances of honeysuckle and candied lemon. The finish, of extraordinary length and complexity, delivers a perfect balance between tension and depth, the distinctive signature of the Grand Siècle collection.
