Champagne Laurent-Perrier
Ultra Brut
The Champagne Ultra Brut by Laurent-Perrier represents one of the Maison's most significant innovations, having given rise to the Brut Nature category in 1981. It is a wine conceived without compromise, produced only in the years capable of offering a perfect balance between ripeness and low acidity, qualities that allow a naturally harmonious Champagne to be obtained, free of added sugar. It embodies a philosophy of absolute purity, in which forgoing dosage becomes a choice of transparency that lets the fruit and the terroir speak for themselves alone.
In the blend it shows a predominance of Chardonnay grapes, completed by 45% Pinot Noir, from fifteen prestigious crus selected with the utmost rigour. Vinification and maturation begin with a careful selection of the grapes, admitted only if endowed with high potential and low acidity, an essential condition for reaching the desired balance. After tirage, an ageing of six years on the lees follows, lending complexity and depth, completed at dégorgement with no final dosage, in Brut Nature style.
On the palate, Ultra Brut appears with a very pale, crystalline colour that heralds a profile of rare clarity. On the nose it reveals itself as intense and complex, dominated by an extreme freshness with notes of citrus, white fruit, honeysuckle flowers and iodine nuances. On the palate it is airy and delicate, built on a balance that makes expressive purity its distinctive trait, while the persistence unfolds long and clear, never cloying, closing with a precision that signs the most refined essence of the Maison's style.
