La Varoce

The Champagne La Varoce by Jérôme Blin expresses the generous, warm character of Meunier from Vincelles, a village on the Rive Droite of the Vallée de la Marne. The vines, with an average age of 35 years, face south and south-west and grow on the clay, silt and limestone soils typical of the valley, conditions that help the grapes ripen fully and evenly. The result is a Blanc de Meunier that brings an artisanal sensitivity to the richness and roundness of this terroir.

This edition, from the 2022 harvest, is vinified and fermented in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts and a naturally occurring malolactic fermentation, without filtration or fining. After tirage, the wine ages for about 30 months on the lees, which adds complexity and finesse. The final dosage, in Extra Brut style, keeps the profile measured and harmonious.

On tasting, La Varoce shows a yellow colour with golden highlights, lively effervescence and a delicate mousse. The nose opens on creamy, pastry-like notes, with fresh hazelnut and almond blossom, followed by riper hints of candied fruit, pistachio and dried fruit. On the palate it is broad and enveloping, with touches of orange blossom and acacia honey, and it shows its full richness in a persistent finish with notes of quince and medlar. Production in a limited run of 1,200 bottles.
