Champagne Laculle Frères
Bicheret 2019
The Champagne Bicheret by Laculle Frères takes its name from the plot it comes from, a small patch of land in Chervey, in the far south of the Côte des Bar, where twenty and thirty year old vines grow on clay-limestone soils resting on the famous Kimmeridgian bank. It is here that Pinot Noir finds its sunniest and at the same time most mineral expression, in a Blanc de Noirs that speaks directly of a single place and of the choice to let its character emerge with great naturalness.
This edition, Vintage 2019, involves vinification and maturation of around ten months in wooden tank, a stage that gives breadth to the Pinot Noir grapes before a tirage entrusted to the traditional agrafe system, able to accompany the second fermentation with a slow micro-oxygenation. After tirage comes ageing on the lees for a minimum of 36 months, while the absence of final dosage, in Brut Nature style, defines its profile.
On tasting, Bicheret 2019 shows a pale gold colour crossed by rosy reflections, with a fine and persistent perlage supporting a creamy mousse, while the nose alternates ripe strawberry, cherry, violet and hawthorn with a touch of licorice, vanilla and sweet spices. On the palate it proves fleshy and fruity, with hints of burlat cherry, pĂŞche de vigne and quetsch plum, sustained by a full structure and by a toasted finish of long persistence in which a note of cherry stone emerges.
