Expression V20
The Champagne Expression by Geoffroy is the perfect introduction to the distinctive style of the Domaine in Aÿ, able to convey a refined balance between freshness, structure and aromatic depth. The wine's identity takes shape in Cumières, a Premier Cru village of the Vallée de la Marne, from a multitude of parcels with heterogeneous soils and microclimates. It is precisely this diversity of terroir that lends the wine a faceted, dynamic profile, a faithful expression of a land that has been interpreted for generations with an artisanal vision and a deep respect for its own vines.
This edition, from the 2020 harvest, is completed by around 50% of a réserve perpétuelle begun in 1970, a true memory that brings complexity, depth and stylistic continuity. The blend brings together in almost equal parts Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay grapes, with part of the vinification carried out in oak fûts and the malolactic fermentation deliberately avoided to preserve tension and precision. After the tirage follows an ageing on its own lees for a minimum of 36 months, while the final dosage of 3.5 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, enhances the wine's expressive purity without compromising its mineral balance.ì
On tasting, the Expression appears to the eye with a luminous golden colour and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, elegant notes of white flowers, ripe fruit and candied citrus emerge, enriched by delicate hints of sweet spices and brioche bread. On the palate it is taut and vibrant, sustained by a decisive saline minerality that accompanies its development, while the structure unfolds with composure and balance. The persistence is remarkable, closed by a long, chiselled finish that interweaves depth and finesse in a clear, harmonious sensation.
