Chardonnay 2015

The Champagne Chardonnay by Corbon is a direct tribute to Avize, the Grand Cru village that stands as a symbol of the Côte des Blancs, where the chalky subsoil gives the grapes a tension and purity hard to find elsewhere. It is the wine that best tells the identity of this small family estate of vignerons, long devoted to the village's Chardonnay and guided by a respectful, craft-driven approach that forgoes pesticides and herbicides to leave the last word to terroir and time.

This edition, Vintage 2015, is a Blanc de Blancs born from a warm and generous year that brought the grapes to full ripeness, with vinification and fermentation carried out with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and glass-lined concrete vats, without malolactic fermentation, filtration or fining. After tirage comes a very long ageing on the lees of around ten years, which brings depth, complexity and great finesse.

On tasting, the Chardonnay 2015 stands out for its fine, creamy perlage and a generous, expressive nose of golden apple, ripe lemon and toasted brioche, enriched by hints of hazelnut and a clear chalky note that underlines its origin. On the palate the material is rich, enveloping and well structured, supported by a pure, incisive minerality and a lively acidity that keeps tension and energy through to a long, saline and luminous finish of remarkable persistence.
