The Champagne Anthracite by Corbon expresses the vision of a small fourth-generation family estate from Avize, bringing together the chalk-rich terroir of the Côte des Blancs Grand Crus and the clay and limestone of the vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne, across Trélou-sur-Marne, Vandières, Verneuil and Vincelles. The result is a blend that sets two souls of the region in dialogue, guided by a craft-driven approach attentive to terroir, free from herbicides and pesticides and true to a deliberately limited production.

This edition, based on the 2019 harvest, is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier grapes, with vinification and maturation carried out partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel, without filtration or fining to preserve the integrity of the wine. After tirage comes a long ageing on the lees of around five years that brings depth and finesse, while a restrained dosage, in Brut style, respects the natural balance of the wine.

On tasting, Anthracite shows a brilliant straw-yellow colour with a fine, abundant and persistent perlage, opening on notes of lemon, lime and pear woven together with delicate floral touches, hints of bread crust and a chalky note of great clarity. On the palate the texture is full and silky, supported by a citrus freshness and a lovely salinity that carry the development with balance towards a long, elegant finish of remarkable aromatic persistence.
