Champagne Augustin
Les Vertus
The Champagne Les Vertus by Augustin is a Blanc de Blancs that expresses all the luminosity of the Côte des Blancs, made from Chardonnay grapes from the Domaine’s own vines in the Premier Cru village of Vertus. Here certified organic and biodynamic viticulture follows the rhythm of the lunar cycles to preserve the balance and vitality of the soil, shaping a cuvée whose signature lies in purity and authenticity.
This edition, from the 2021 harvest, carries into the cellar the same biodynamic principles that guide the work in the vineyard. Vinification and fermentation take place spontaneously, using only indigenous yeasts and without filtration, followed by eleven months of maturation split between clay jarres for 50%, barriques for 20% and stainless steel cuves for 30%, a choice that enhances complexity, structure and depth. After tirage the wine ages on its lees for at least 24 months, and the cuvée is finished with no final dosage, underlining its utmost fidelity to the terroir.
On tasting, Les Vertus 2021 shows a bright yellow colour with a fine, persistent perlage, opening onto an aromatic profile of fresh citrus, white flowers and almond, accompanied by delicate mineral hints. On the palate it reveals energy and precision, in a well-judged balance between tension and creaminess that defines its structure with great harmony. The finish is elegant and persistent, a faithful expression of the identity of its terroir.
