Sensuum Vertigo Millésime 2019

The Champagne Sensuum Vertigo by Alexandre Filaine originates in Damery, on the Rive Droite of the Vallée de la Marne, and expresses the rarest and most distinctive side of the production crafted by Fabrice Gass. This cuvée Millésime is produced exclusively in years considered worthy of the vigneron’s vision, through a fully artisanal approach that still includes manual remuage and dégorgement. The grapes come from four parcels, with vines planted in 1978 through massale selection, an element that contributes to the wine’s expressive depth.

This edition, Vintage 2019, is composed of 55% Pinot Noir grapes, 30% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier. Vinification and fermentation take place in old 205-litre champenois tonneaux, without invasive technological intervention and without malolactic fermentation, a choice that preserves tension and aromatic precision. After tirage under cork, the wine undergoes at least five years of ageing on the lees, in a long “sous liège” evolution that enhances the complexity of the cuvée. The final dosage of less than 5 g/l, in Brut style, supports a rigorous and vertical interpretation of the Damery terroir.

In tasting, Sensuum Vertigo Millèsime 2019 reveals a tense, elegant and deeply mineral profile. The bouquet combines notes of tart and ripe fruit, hints of dried fruit, and nuances of anise and aromatic herbs that amplify the sensation of freshness. On the palate, the structure is substantial yet precise, supported by a juicy and highly fluid progression leading to a persistent, saline and rigorous finish. Production in a limited run of approximately 600 bottles.
