A remarkably small-scale yet outstanding-quality estate, Alexandre Filaine was born from the vision of Fabrice Gass, a highly experienced vigneron and winemaker. In Damery, on the Right Bank of the Vallée de la Marne, he cultivates around one and a half hectares of vineyards divided into seven parcels, managed with meticulous care and partly dedicated to grape sales. Production is deliberately limited and tailored, reflecting a handcrafted approach that prioritizes precision and identity over volume.

Fabrice stands at the center of every aspect of the Domaine, personally overseeing each step: from vineyard work and harvest to vinification, barrel transfers, tirage, remuage, disgorgement and corking, with only the support of a few family members. His path has been profoundly shaped by 27 years at Bollinger, where he worked as caviste, tonnelier and dégorger. This experience is clearly reflected in the style of his Champagnes, as well as in his use of tonneaux sourced directly from the historic Maison in Aÿ.

In the vineyard, the approach is thoughtful and environmentally respectful, despite the absence of official certifications, with all three classic Champagne grape varieties cultivated. In the cellar, he favors vinification and fermentation in wood, avoiding malolactic fermentation to preserve tension and precision, while after tirage the wines age on lees for at least three years. Production is limited to three labels, including a Millésime, reflecting Fabrice Gass’s vision: artisanal, precise and consistent Champagnes, expressing a path of continuous evolution.
