The Champagne Les Coullemets 2020 originates from a single parcel of old vines located in the lower part of the Lieu-Dit of the same name, in the heart of the prestigious Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Just a stone’s throw from the renowned Les Chétillons vineyard, this east-facing plot lies on deep chalk and limestone soils, which impart vertical tension and marked minerality to the wine. Signed by Adrien Dhondt, a leading figure of the new generation of Champagne growers, the cuvée fully embodies an artisanal and biodynamic approach, with deliberately low yields to highlight the identity of the terroir.

The 2020 harvest was handled with a respectful and precise method: spontaneous fermentation in barrique, followed by 8 months of ageing on fine lees, without fining or filtration. The completed malolactic fermentation softens the wine’s natural acidity, contributing to a more harmonious palate. After more than 36 months of lees ageing, disgorgement takes place with an Extra Brut dosage (1 g/l), to preserve the purest expression of its origin.

On the palate, Les Coullemets 2020 reveals itself as a Blanc de Blancs Champagne of great finesse. The bouquet is wide and refined, offering notes of white peach, acacia flowers, and flint, followed by delicate nuances of toasted hazelnutand light honey. The mouthfeel is pure and elegant, marked by a silky texture, vibrant freshness, and a long, saline finish. Produced in just 1,276 bottles, with 20 magnums and 5 jéroboams, it stands as a rare and radiant expression of Le Mesnil’s nobility, crafted for the most discerning enthusiasts.
