Champagne Vincent Cuillier
Fusion 2022
The Champagne Fusion by Vincent Cuillier is a Blanc de Noirs that originates in the Massif de Saint-Thierry as a rigorous and thoughtful interpretation of a blend composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Meunier, reflecting a vision grounded in regenerative viticulture, respect for natural cycles, and the pursuit of balance between vine, soil, and environment. The vineyards, located at around 180 metres above sea level, are rooted in the Thanetian sands, well-drained soils rich in organic matter that lend the wine aromatic precision and a distinctly airy, mineral texture.
This 2022 vintage takes shape in a year marked by stable, bright climatic conditions, ideal for achieving full and harmonious grape ripeness. Careful grape selection precedes a vinification carried out with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous malolactic fermentation, combining vinification and ageing 60% in 500-litre oak barrels (from 2 to 10 previous uses) and 40% in stainless steel, a choice designed to balance structure, purity, and varietal expression. After around 10 months of ageing without added sulphur, the wine undergoes tirage and a minimum of 24 months of ageing on the lees. The absence of dosage, in Brut Nature style, delivers an unfiltered and faithful expression of both terroir and vintage.
On tasting, Fusion displays a bright golden colour, highlighted by pale amber reflections and a fine, regular mousse. The aromatic profile is broad and layered, with notes of ripe red fruits, yellow stone fruits, sweet spices, toasty nuances, and mineral, chalky hints. On the palate, the structure is full and silky, supported by a linear tension that carries flavours of ripe fruit, candied lemon, and toasted hazelnut. The finish is long, saline, and precise, highlighting the mineral signature of the Thanetian sandy soils and the natural balance of the 2022 vintage.
